4th Anual ILanga Festival Was a Blast!!

The 4th anual ILanga festival took place on Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 at the Music Pavilion inside Hamburg Planten und Bloomen park from 3pm - 7pm.

Ilanga festival was launched in 2009 in recognition of Nelson Mandela’s birthday on the 18th of July, via unanimous decision of the UN General Assembly and has been celebrated in his honour since July 2010.
This years event was hosted by Johanna Princess von Sachsen- Coburg. She is the presenter of "African Outlook", a show which airs on TIDE tv in Hamburg.


The line up of artists this year included:


Anri Coza - the queen of Pop noire
Award-winning singer and dancer, Thabiso Serobanyane, from Vienna, Austria 
DUBE presents Mbaqanga & Township Music. 
Dj.TMW 
And Special guest - Direct from Johannesburg - was Afrosoul singer and world musician Max Hoba.

Nelson Mandela International Day is much more than a celebration of Madiba’s legacy of fighting for freedom and a culture of peace. It is a global movement to honour his life’s work and act to change the world for the better.
The people from Ilanga festival carry within their hearts tremendous joy and inspiration from this vision!

Zimbabwean women's rights activist Nomazulu Thata was also in attendance. As well as the Global Network Organization - CITIZEN of the World and Viva con agua.

The crowd danced and were happily entertained by all the performers and entertainment.

The motto of the event remains:
TAKE ACTION. INSPIRE CHANGE.
MAKE EVERY DAY A MANDELA DAY
