Radio TopAfric Summer-Get-Together

Radio TopAfric, based in Hamburg, Germany, hosted a fantastic Summer-Get-Together at their office premises on Sunday, 14th July 2024. The event was a resounding success, with ample food and drinks provided for all team members and invited guests. Both past and present presenters attended, engaging in lively discussions to exchange ideas and deliberate on how to improve the station's offerings over time.

The reality is that social media has fundamentally transformed the face and medium of radio transmission, and the team is encouraged to adapt to these changes to stay relevant. In his brief but impactful message to the team, Desmond John Beddy, the initiator of TopAfric, praised the exceptional leadership of Dr. Ama Edem Tamakloe, the Program Director, and Jonny Amoako, the Technical Director. He commended their efforts in rebranding the studio, which has been operational since 2010.

However, Beddy also challenged the team to continue striving for excellence and to enhance the station's relevance by harnessing their collective strengths. "All of you here have your uniqueness and are very powerful on social media," he noted. "Why not get committed, bind your individual talents together, and make Radio TopAfric great and relevant? Have frequent meetings to deliberate the way forward, communicate and share ideas together. Let's grow together."

Beddy emphasized the need for strong, dedicated, and visionary leadership. "If you don’t challenge yourselves and your leaders, you will remain stagnant. The new media landscape is evolving rapidly; let’s constantly remind ourselves of the vision and mission of the station."

He reaffirmed their commitment to the goal of having all Africans in Germany host their programs at the station, striving to remain attractive to a broader audience. "Let’s remember our slogan: 'Connecting People,'" he added.

The public should stay tuned for the upcoming relaunch of the studio, promising exciting developments and enhanced programming. Additionally, Radio TopAfric is set to launch its TikTok page in grand style, inviting everyone to experience the new and improved Radio TopAfric.

The team held a mini public viewing of the Euro 24 finals in the office. Spain won 2-1 against the English team in a very balanced and interesting game. In the end, the best team of the tournament won. Such gatherings are not only refreshing but also bring the TopAfric family together.
