This groundbreaking event aims to tackle prevalent health issues such as hypertension and cardiovascular diseases, which are leading causes of death within the African community in Hamburg.
Event Details:
- Date: Sunday, June 30, 2024
- Time: 14:00 – 18:00
- Location: Church of Pentecost (Central)
Albert-Schweitzer-Ring 4
22045 Hamburg-JenfeldAbout the Initiative:
The Diaspora Mobile Medical Clinic (DMMC) is a collaborative effort among several non-governmental organizations: Ghana Ex-Servicemen Association Hamburg e. V., Meine Diaspora e. V., and YAPA Germany e. V. These organizations have identified a critical need for health awareness, support, and guidance among African migrants who are often affected by premature deaths due to preventable diseases.
Our mission is to make healthcare services accessible to all African residents in Hamburg by focusing on interventions that eliminate barriers such as lack of insurance and language challenges. By utilizing a mobile medical clinic, we can bring healthcare directly to the community, ensuring that no one is left behind.
Why This Matters:
The African community is the largest visible minority group in Hamburg and faces numerous socio-economic and health-related challenges that impact their overall well-being and life expectancy. This initiative seeks to address these issues head-on by providing essential health services and education to improve community health outcomes.
What to Expect:
In collaboration with African medical professionals and media organizations, we are launching this pilot project to offer mobile health services. Our medical van will be equipped with the necessary medical equipment and supplies, operated by African doctors and nurses. The clinic will provide quality, free preventive and primary healthcare, as well as health promotion services during the four-hour event.
Invitation to Community Stakeholders:
We are honored to invite you, esteemed community members and stakeholders, to participate in this event. Your presence and input are invaluable. Please inform your family, church, or association members who might benefit from the services provided by African doctors and nurses.
We also invite you to participate in the program assessment and evaluation session, which will help us address any challenges and improve future implementations of the project.
