Reading with 4 authors from the Afro-Diaspora on World Book Day!
The event was organized at the Afrotopia Culture and Innovation Centre in collaboration with Lukulule e.V., Schlaufox e.V., Kamerun4AfrikaClub e.V., Southern Cameroons Community Germany-Hamburg (SCCG-Hamburg e.V.) and other diaspora communities in Hamburg. The interaction with the authors was crucial, as the importance of reading cannot be overemphasized! Reading the right materials and books helps the reader to focus and develop their communication skills, reduces stress, improves mental health, vocabulary, and concentration and assists mental well-being. Some books and storylines enable one to understand others (empathy), succeed at work and relationships and enhance a person’s knowledge base. The programme’s goal was to awaken the desire to write and inspire the mentees to believe in themselves and understand they are also capable of writing books for others to read.
The participants were Dr Akuma Saningong, motivational speaker and personal life coach, Gloria Boateng, a teacher, author, fitness trainer, and moderator who has received multiple awards for her social engagements, Elizebeth Boehme, a supply chain and logistics manager, author and community activist, and Agatha-Genoveva-Ombeni Stickdorn-Ngonyani, an author, radio presenter and moderator.
